Moving checklist: what to consider

Protective packaging

Moving is a fun but drastic event. There are many things to think about. Everything must be packed and transported safely. How do you handle that? In this blog article, we share a handy relocation checklist with which you can make your move go smoothly.

Preparing for the move

It is important to start preparations on time. We advise you to inform the insurer four weeks before the move. Arrange the gas, water and light for both the new and the old home in advance. Before packing starts, it is wise to tidy up and sort things out. This way, you can already throw away things that can go away. This saves a lot of work while packing and moving things. Do you want to store stuff? Then now is the time to arrange storage. Then you know for sure that your belongings are temporarily stored safely.

One week before the move, you can pack the things you no longer need in the last week. Make sure that the boxes clearly state what is in them and in which room they will be placed. This helps when unpacking in the new home. You can also remove curtains and lamps in rooms that you no longer use. It would be nice - if possible - to clean the new house this week. In this way, all items immediately end up in a clean house. So nice, right?

Move well prepared

The last things can be packed the day before the move. We've created an extensive checklist to help you get started. Keep important belongings like wallets and keys in a good place. This way, you prevent these things from getting lost during the moving crowds. Also important: the refrigerator and freezer must be thoroughly defrosted before they can be moved. Store your refrigerated items in chilled packaging boxes. You can do this a day in advance. In addition, it would be nice if the removal van could be parked in front of the door. Reserve a space in front of the door where the moving van can be parked. The stuff can be loaded so easily.

The packed boxes can be loaded into the moving van on the day of the move itself. The last curtains and lamps can be removed and packed. The space is used optimally, and the items can be unloaded easily in this way. Before you leave the house for good, check that nothing has been forgotten. Write down the meter readings and close windows and doors properly. Now you can leave for your new home!

When you arrive at the new home, everything can be unloaded. Make sure that the items are not damaged.
